The other night, I had a conversation with my husband about how to be myself. Learning how to be yourself can be challenging, especially if you deal with chronic illness and/or mental health issues like I do. I’m a warrior battling anxiety and depression, among other things.
Because of this, I often feel like I don’t fit in. I feel like I’m not “good enough” and I about worry what other people will think of me, specifically, that they’ll think I’m not perfect. As a recovering perfectionist, there can be a lot of pressure to put a smile on your face and pretend that everything is okay. This can feel inauthentic, especially when you’re not feeling well.
