I’ve had a lot of new beginnings in my life, and what I’ve learned is starting over from scratch can be a good thing. Getting a fresh start is an opportunity to move forward.
In honor of a new year and a new me, I’d like to share something I wrote in March 2013—just three months after ending up in the emergency room for panic attacks and nine months before being diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). It was a time in my life when I really needed to turn over a new leaf. You can read more about my experience anxiety, stress, and overwhelm in my book, Stress Size: How My Hunger for Control Almost Killed Me.
I want to share it because the story represents a pattern in my life that I’ve seen happen over and over again, a pattern that I describe in my tips for self-healing. Perhaps you’ve experienced something similar in your own life.
Keep reading to experience the beauty of new beginnings, fresh starts, and starting over from scratch.
